Micron Plating
At Sade Silver, our standard finish is flash plating, which applies an extremely thin layer of gold or rose gold. While flash plating offers a beautiful appearance, it may wear off over time, especially with frequent use.
What is Flash Plating?
Flash plating is the application of a very thin gold layer, typically less than 0.175 microns, achieved through electroplating. This type of plating is common but considered a lighter, less durable coating by many major companies.
What is Micron Plating?
Micron plating, also known as heavy gold plating, involves applying a thicker gold layer ranging from 0.5 to 3 microns. The industry standard for gold plating is generally between 0.5 and 1 micron.
By offering micron plating, we provide a more durable, longer-lasting gold finish over sterling silver jewelry. This plating is especially popular among some of our EU customers who require enhanced durability and quality.
